Static vs. Air

It's a choice we all have to make when building our cars and one I have gone back and forth from lately. When I got my MKV R32 I got a set of FK Silverline X coilovers and loved them for a whole year. In the spring of last year I bought my first air kit installed it with a few friends of mine. After upgrading the front shocks to the performance series I was almost happy with the setup...

The real reason I bagged the car was that I had selected a set of HRE 109S wheels that I wanted. I got the wheels from a good friend of mine that had had them on his bagged Golf R. Being HRE they were the most expensive wheels I have ever bought even though they were used. They really brought the car together and made the vehicle look just amazing.

But, after a full show season and about 6-8 months I decided I wanted to go back to coilovers for better performance. I looked at pictures of what the car had looked like before and sold the bags in hopes to go back to where I was before.

I instantly regretted selling the airbags. Now I know what I have to do this spring. Buy a brand new kit.... Performance series fronts, performance series rears, V2 management, and one of those pretty new seamless air tanks. I know what I need to do, just need to find the money to do so. After this I should love my car again and never make the same mistakes again.

A few friends told me at the time that they knew I would regret it, but I didn't believe them. They were right! I will be back this season though. I have a few things I hope to be changing and can't wait to see how everything turns out.

Keep an eye out for something new.
